Supporting someone as their partner

If someone has asked you to be their accountability partner: how to accept, what you will see, what you can change for them, and how to step back. It costs nothing.

Accepting an invitation

  1. Open the invitation email

It is titled with their name and invited you to be their Kellet accountability partner. Choose Accept or decline the invitation.

  2. Sign in, or create a free account

Use the email address the invitation was sent to. You do not need a plan, and nothing is installed on your devices.

  3. Check what you would see and change

The page lists what you would see (their activity, web history and app usage) and what, if anything, they have let you change.

  4. Accept

Choose Accept invitation. They now appear on your Supporting page.

Seeing how they are doing

On Supporting, choose View activity beside their name. You see their flagged content, web history and app usage, read only.

Invitations waiting for your answer are listed on the same page under Invitations to you, with Accept and Decline.

Changing things for them

If they have given you permission to change anything, Manage appears beside their name. Depending on what they allowed, you can block or unblock sites and categories, turn Shorts and Reels blocking on or off, turn their schedules and escalations on or off, and set their rule cooldown.

Anything you loosen waits out their cooldown, and they are told about every change you make. If their plan has ended, nothing can be changed until they renew.

What you will be told

A blocked content summary covering everyone you support: how many items Kellet blocked for each of them, the top category and the last five. Choose Daily, Weekly or Off under Blocked content summary in your own Notification settings. Somebody with nothing blocked in the period is left out, and nothing is sent if nobody had anything blocked.

You also get copies of their alerts, if they have chosen to share them, and always hear when one of their devices is removed, goes quiet or comes back online. How those reach you, by email or on your phone, is up to your own Notification settings.

When they ask you to end a lock

If one of their devices is locked, they can ask their partners to end the lock early. They cannot end it themselves. You are told straight away, by email and on your phone, and the request appears at the top of Supporting under Waiting on your answer, and on their own page, with what locked the device and anything they wrote.

Choose Approve, then Yes, end it now, to end the lock on that device straight away, or Decline to leave it. You can add a note either way, and they see it. Any one of their partners can answer, and once one has, the request leaves everybody’s list. If the lock ends on its own first, the request lapses.

Stepping back

Choose Stop supporting beside their name and confirm. They are told you stepped back. You can be invited again later.

If they delete their Kellet account, you are told, and they disappear from your Supporting page along with everything of theirs you could see.

Common questions

Do I need to pay or install anything?
No. Being a partner is free, and nothing is installed on your devices.
Can I unlock their device or end a cooldown?
You can end a device lock only when they ask you to, and they cannot end one themselves. No partner can end a cooldown early, whatever permissions they give you.
The invitation says it has expired.
Invitations last seven days. Ask them to send a new one.
