Step by step
- Request removal
Open Cooldowns, find Uninstall protection, and choose Request removal beside the device.
- Wait out the uninstall cooldown
The device shows Removal requested and Removable in a countdown. You can choose Cancel request at any time.
- Uninstall within the hour
When the device shows Removable now, you have one hour. On Windows, uninstall Kellet from Settings, Apps, and choose Remove Kellet when Kellet asks to confirm. On Android, open the Kellet app, go to the phone’s device page, choose Open Remove Kellet and follow it through to Android’s uninstall screen.
- Remove it from your account
Once Kellet is gone, the device shows Removed. Open it and choose Remove from my account to take it off your list.
The uninstall cooldown
This is separate from the cooldown on your rules, and you set it on the Cooldowns page. It can be Off or anything from 15 minutes to a week, and it starts at Off.
Even with it Off you still request removal first; the device is then removable straight away. The wait is fixed at the moment you ask, so lowering the cooldown afterwards does not speed up a request already running. Lowering the uninstall cooldown itself waits out the current uninstall cooldown.
If the hour runs out
The device protects itself again and you would need to request removal once more. If you change your mind while it is removable, Re-lock now closes the window straight away.
If you try to uninstall too early
On Windows, Kellet’s uninstall window says Kellet is protecting this device and offers Open my account, which takes you to Cooldowns. If a request is already running it shows how long is left. On Android, the remove screen offers Open Cooldowns and Check again.
When your plan has ended
Kellet stands down and can be removed with no request and no wait. The Cooldowns page says Your subscription has ended. Kellet can be removed from this device with no wait., and the uninstaller lets you straight through.
If you delete your account
Deleting your account releases each of its devices straight away. Each one stops enforcing and lets you uninstall Kellet with no request and no wait, and says the account has been deleted. A device that was offline at the time finds out the next time it connects.
A device that never comes back
If a device cannot reach Kellet for 30 days of being switched on, it releases itself, so a PC that has lost its connection for good can still be uninstalled.
